What an inspiring way to start the day – and a great way to make sure you’re living in the moment and striving to live a life with meaning and purpose.
No one can accuse Steve Jobs of being unproductive or lazy that’s for sure! He founded the world-famous animation company Pixar, brought computer giant Apple back to life even after being fired in 1985 and fought a debilitating battle with pancreatic cancer, a battle that after 9 years, he sadly lost last year.
What I love about Steve Jobs was his unnerving belief in ‘doing what you love’. This inspiring quote really resonates with me and inspires me every day to get up and do something meaningful with my life:
1. “If today was the last day of my life would I want to do what I’m about to do today?”
2. “Your time is limited. Don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”
3. “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you’ve found it.”
4. “People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully.”
5. “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.”
6. ‘Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes…the ones who see things differently – they’re not fond of rules…You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify them or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things…they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that do.”
7. “That’s been one of my mantras – focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex; you have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple.”
8. “Your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
9. “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
10. “Remembering you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There’s no reason not to follow your heart.”
